Club history
The Rotary Club of Kahala Sunrise, sponsored by The Rotary Club of East Honolulu, was chartered on May 16, 2007. The club was chartered with 34 members (17 men and 17 women) and the formation of the club was spearheaded by Gloria King and Diane Chang from the Rotary Club of Honolulu. The Governor’s Special Representative and Advisor was PDG Roy E. King, Jr. from the Rotary Club of Waikiki.
Representatives from all over Hawaii and California came, including 68 Rotarians from 16 clubs, with 118 people witnessing the event on June 3, 2007. In attendance were DG James Varner (presented the Club Charter), Past District Governors Robert Deibler (presented Gloria King with the American Flag that flew over the Arizona Memorial on December 7, 2006), PDG Al Ficker, PDG Roy E. King, Jr. (Governor’s Representative & Advisor- donated the club work banner) PDG Linda Coble, PDG Hal Darcey, PDG Roz Cooper, DGN Ayman El-Dakhakhni, ADG Laura Steelquist.
