Pat Duarte, President
Aloha!
The Rotary Club of Kahala Sunrise, RoCKS as we refer to ourselves, is a relatively new club in the East Honolulu area. Our membership includes a diverse group of men and women who work in a wide array of businesses and professions. Although many of our members are new to Rotary, our club is vibrant, active, energetic, and dedicated to the goals and values of Rotary. We are a club that thrives on serving our community and we have lots of fun doing it! With a membership numbering about 40, we are small enough to be a close-knit group yet sufficiently large to take on ambitious community service projects. We welcome new members who want an opportunity to grow as leaders and are committed to serving humanity.
During our 2011 – 2012 year RoCKS intends to continue its efforts to improve literacy by donating age-appropriate books and dictionaries to more than a dozen schools, collecting and distributing school supplies, and checking the vision of third grade students. We are also planning to engage in projects like a beach cleanup, feeding those less fortunate on Thanksgiving Day, collecting food for the Food Bank, and participating in the Toys for Tots Program. Our club is active in international programs to promote literacy and we support Rotary International’s projects to end polio and assist in disaster relief efforts.
Our weekly meetings are held at 7:30 AM on Wednesday mornings at the Waialae Country Club. Good food, fun and fellowship are always on our agenda as well as interesting and inspiring speakers. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people and reacquaint with old friends – join us for the perfect way to start your Wednesday!
Mahalo nui loa,
Pat Duarte
